Employee Fundraising and Volunteerism

Delta people donate their time, resources and expertise to make a positive impact in our communities.

Matching Gifts to Education Program

In 2024, The Delta Air Lines Foundation matched $3.3 million in personal contributions made by Delta employees, retirees and Board members to eligible public and private nonprofit educational institutions in the United States and its territories. Through its Matching Gifts to Education Program, The Delta Air Lines Foundation matches these donations to accredited, eligible nonprofit educational institutions, from pre-K through postgraduate, up to $5,000 annually per employee, retiree or Board member.

Partnering With SkyMiles Customers

Through the SkyWish Program, Delta customers around the world can donate miles from the SkyMiles Program to support:

Ill or wounded service members and veterans undergoing medical treatment or reuniting with their families

Volunteers building affordable housing or assisting with disaster relief and recovery during national emergencies

Children with life-threatening medical conditions who are seeking care at the best hospitals in the nation or visiting their dream destinations

Human trafficking survivors

For the 10th year, Delta supported veterans and active service members by matching customer-donated miles throughout November for National Veterans and Military Families Month. We matched up to a total of 10 million miles in SkyWish donations to Fisher House Foundation’s Hero Miles Program and Luke’s Wings No Service Member Spends the Holidays Alone campaign. The two programs use donated miles to provide air travel to wounded or ill service members and veterans, as well as their families, while they undergo treatment and recovery.

Inspiring Homeless Youth Through Career Readiness Program

More than 4 million young people aged 13 to 25 experience a form of homelessness each year, with LGBTQ+ youth, people of color, and pregnant or parenting youth disproportionately affected.

At our fifth annual Delta Sleep Out, more than 200 Delta volunteers and their family members participated to raise awareness and funds for Covenant House and homeless youth. During our 12-year collaboration with Covenant House, Delta teams have raised millions — including more than $442,000 in 2024 — to help provide young people with safety, shelter and health care, as well as workforce development.

In addition to sponsoring the Sleep Out movement, Delta created the Delta Career Readiness Program for Covenant House youth in Atlanta, Los Angeles, Mexico City and New York. Led by Delta employees, the program equips youth overcoming homelessness with the tools and skills they need for a successful career at Delta and elsewhere.

Celebrating Dr. King’s “Beloved Community”

Delta partnered with the Alliance for Flushing Meadows Corona Park and the office of Queens Borough President Donovan Richards to honor the life and legacy of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. with a community service day at Flushing Meadows Corona Park. One of many events Delta organized nationwide on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the park cleanup reflected King's “Beloved Community” philosophy, rooted in the idea that it is possible to create “a society based on economic and social justice where all people can share in the wealth of this earth.”

Delta volunteers painted and helped beautify spaces for the teenagers who live at Casa Alianza México in Mexico City. The private assistance institution contributes to the protection and care of children and adolescents at risk of abandonment, violence and exploitation. Other Delta volunteers, including the sales team and other employees at Mexico City International Airport, donated essential cleaning products, personal hygiene items and stationery for the youth.

Building Homes With Atlanta Habitat for Humanity

In partnership with Atlanta Habitat for Humanity, more than 800 Delta volunteers worked alongside the new homeowners to build four homes in Browns Mill Village — a community made possible through grants from corporations and foundations, including The Delta Air Lines Foundation.

Creating Play Spaces With KABOOM!

Among our latest KABOOM! projects, more than 150 Delta and local community volunteers partnered with the Utah Jazz organization and the Salt Lake City Public Lands Department to build Delta’s second KABOOM! playground in the Salt Lake City area. Another 100 Delta and community volunteers collaborated with the City of Bell to build our seventh KABOOM! playground in the Los Angeles area, the second build in that market in 2024.

Building a KABOOM! Playground in Compton, California, was a great experience that I’ll always remember. What started as a huge mountain of mulch became a beautiful place for the children to be kids and play. It was an incredible display of teamwork and truly bringing the Delta Difference to one of our hub communities.”
