Wellness
Delta strives to support the physical, emotional, social and financial wellness of our employees. When our people thrive, they help our customers and communities thrive, too.
Delta believes in the virtuous circle, which is why we invest in an ecosystem of benefits that helps Delta people be their best and, in turn, take the best care of Delta’s customers. By focusing on wellness, Delta enables purpose, belonging and affinity among employees. This leads the Delta people to go above and beyond for each other and for our customers. This people-first philosophy helps Delta achieve a culture of safety, high performance and care.
Delta’s benefits and resources have always been shaped by employee feedback to make sure we are providing rewarding compensation, holistic wellness resources and fulfilling career journeys. This is possible through regularly surveying our people about their holistic wellness and tailoring our benefits to enable them to live their best lives. (see Assessing Our People's Wellness Needs below).
Introduced two prescription drug programs with cost savings for our employees — to help them be their best and, in turn, take the best care of our customers.
At the heart of Delta’s success is a simple belief: When we take care of our employees, they are empowered to take the best care of our customers and each other.”

Assessing Our People’s Wellness Needs
Our 12-question Flourishing Index Survey, developed by researchers at Harvard University, provides a quantitative assessment of total wellness supplemented with qualitative interviews with employees. Insights from recent Flourishing Index Surveys influenced the launch of Delta’s Emergency Savings Program (see below) and other wellness benefits.
In addition, our leaders regularly engage with employees one-on-one to assess their wellness needs.

“My biggest fear going into [my cancer treatment] was that I was alone in it, and I wasn't. I had the support of my nurse care coordinator, Alexis, at Quantum Health. I had the support of friends. And I had the support of my Delta family, which really meant so much to me during that time.”

Emotional Wellness
Through our employee assistance program, offered in partnership with Spring Health, employees can access 12 Delta-sponsored mental health counseling sessions and six personal coaching sessions per year. All Spring Health therapists are in-network with Delta health plans and available for on-site or virtual sessions. Employees can use the digital-driven program to find a therapist based on their individual needs for continuity-based care, with appointments guaranteed in an average of two days. From the program’s launch in September 2023 through 2024, thousands of our people registered with Spring Health, and they had their first appointments within a few days.
In 2024, we expanded this benefit in partnership with Galileo. The teleservices provider enables access to medical experts anytime, anywhere, and expands our telehealth offerings for primary care, management of chronic conditions and initial point of contact for urgent care.
Beyond our work with employees, Delta is dedicated to working in our communities to provide mental health support and education. We partner with the National Alliance on Mental Illness, the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization, to help raise awareness and support those in need.

Healthy Lifestyles
Delta encourages our people to live a full life, eating well, exercising and creating other wellness habits. In 2024, we enhanced our opportunities for healthy living:
- Launched more than 80 markets/cafés using Delta’s wellness criteria to offer healthy, affordable food options across nine Delta locations. Delta also provides free fresh fruit, flavored water, coffee and subsidized healthy meals, making healthy choices easier. These enhancements are available in select stations, and additional locations in the U.S. are in progress.
- Deployed the Everyday app, a mobile food-ordering platform allowing employees to order ahead and self-checkout to skip the line at several of our headquarters cafés.
- Partnered with Optum One Pass Select to provide affordable, nationwide access to fitness centers for traveling employees.
- Engaged our people in monthly Sharecare challenges to create healthy habits, with many employees taking part in multiple challenges.
Family-Building Benefits
Based on employee feedback, Delta has continued to invest heavily in family-planning benefits. Domestic employees and their spouses receive support from Maven, a virtual clinic that offers continuous, holistic care for fertility and family building. In 2024, we saw high enrollment in Maven and strong employee engagement with this benefit.
Those who enroll in Delta’s health plans also have access to Progyny, a fertility benefits provider; a 24/7 integrated pharmacy; and lower-cost treatments, including artificial insemination and in vitro fertilization (IVF), and medications for fertility treatments.
In addition to generous parental leave, we offer highly subsidized emergency backup care, with 25 days of care for an employee to use when a provider is unavailable during work hours. Our team is connected to vetted, qualified caregivers for U.S. employees’ children, adult family members and pets.

Financial Wellness
Recent data indicates that more than 50% of Americans are uncomfortable with their level of savings in case of a financial emergency.1 To help our employees achieve a level of financial security, in January 2023, Delta introduced the Emergency Savings Program in partnership with Operation HOPE and Fidelity Investments. Available to all U.S.-based employees, it incentivizes employees to begin building greater financial security with a contribution of up to $1,000 toward their emergency savings. Employees earn a one-time contribution of $750 upon completing an online educational track and their first one-on-one coaching session, and an additional $250 contribution from Delta upon reaching $250 in savings from their payroll deductions.
As of the end of 2024, nearly 36,400 Delta employees had completed the financial wellness program, each earning the full $1,000. Most participating employees are actively growing that safety net with their own earnings, saving an average of $81 from every paycheck via payroll deduction.
Establishing an emergency savings account has had a significant impact on the lives of participants. Among employees surveyed, those who reported being able to save for goals other than emergencies more than doubled after completing the program.

Financial Wellness Education
To encourage knowledge-building and accountability, Delta offers a dedicated financial wellness community on our SkyHub internal social network. Employees can exchange information and get answers to frequently asked questions about financial benefits and resources Delta offers, including the Emergency Savings Program and Ascent, a new guide to financial independence. In addition, they can participate in discussion-based campaigns, including #BestAdviceEver and #IGiveBecause, for the chance to win prizes.
We support all employees in their path to retirement, whatever their stage in the journey. In addition to our primary 401(k) plan, Delta offers monthly webinar series focused on financial wellness topics for specific employee groups — from 401(k) basics for early-career hires to Social Security and Medicare eligibility for near-retirees. In 2024, we relaunched Ready Set Retire, our popular in-person and virtual education program.
