  1. All emissions were calculated and verified using the GHG Protocol, which is in alignment with the guidance of the SBTi.(a)
  2. Emissions calculations use the most current emission factors to stay aligned with other International Civil Aviation Organization member airlines as well as the GHG Protocol. Previous years’ emissions from jet fuel (within Scope 1 and Scope 3, Category 3) have been updated to reflect the most up-to-date emissions factors. Scope 3 (Categories 1, 2 and 4) use previous years’ emissions factors adjusted for inflation.(a)
  3. Scope 2 emissions are reported as location‑based; market‑based emissions are equivalent due to Delta‑supported renewable energy generation for its facilities. In 2025, Delta updated its methodology for estimating emissions from leased, non‑metered airport facilities. In accordance with GHG Protocol guidance, electricity use is reported only where data are available. These emissions are now reported in Scope 3 Category 8 for all reported years.(a) (b)
  4. Scope 3 data for 2019 includes Categories 3 and 8; Scope 3 for 2023 includes Categories 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8 and 15; Scope 3 for 2024 and 2025 includes Categories 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 15. Scope 3 Categories 3, 5, 7, 8 and 15 calculations use primary data. Scope 3 Categories 1, 2, 4 and 6 use a hybrid of primary and secondary (spend) data, which incorporates an updated methodology in 2025, previous years have not been restated.(a)
  5. Changes in Scope 3 Category 7 values from those reported in the 2024 Delta Difference Report are due to updates in methodology.(a)
  6. Biogenic tank-to-wake (TTW) carbon dioxide emissions are reported separately from Scopes 1, 2 and 3, consistent with current guidance from the GHG Protocol.(a)
